Tradition 8-Inch Serrated Bread Knife adds classic styling to your kitchen that you will love.Premium Japanese VG-10 Damascus stainless steel blades resist rust, stains, and pitting, while the toothed-edge provides optimum sharpness. Featuring triple brass rivets and a full metal tang, this knife gives you stability and control for sure, safe handling during meal prep.

Tojiro makes another bread knife that’s around three times more expensive than this one. And though that one got the “Upgraded Pick” vote from Wirecutter, Serious Eats says this one is more than enough to get the job done. The blade is, you guessed it, 235 millimeters (9.25 inches), and it’s got fine, sharp teeth that whizzed right through everything it met. And because the blade is a little bendy, the tester liked that it’s good for more delicate jobs, too, like removing the peel from hard winter squash and cutting thin slices of tomatoes. (Note: This bendy blade got dinged a little because it wasn’t as good at heavy-duty tasks — like cutting a squash in half.)

You’ll find serrated knives in three styles: Flat: The classic and most common style of serrated knife, this flat-blade knife can be found in most knife block sets. Though it’s fine for slicing bread, the lack of knuckle clearance makes this style of serrated knife a unitasker. Curved: This style of serrated knife is great for bread. A curved blade gives the user the ability to use a rocking motion when cutting fruits and vegetables, and also offers better knuckle clearance than a flat knife. We find this style to be the most versatile. Offset: The blade of the knife extends 1 to 2 inches below the handle, which gives the user plenty of knuckle clearance. Offset knives have blades measuring 6 to 9 inches long, too short to cut through a large loaf of bread. The offset shape can also make it difficult to maintain control while slicing.
